D'Arlyn Carol Oppeboen Reed was born July 5th, 1958 in Watford City ND to Myrtle and Harlyn Oppeboen. She passed away on April 17th, 2021.
D'Arlyn was one of a kind. Once spotted running through the streets of NYC sporting highlighter yellow from head to toe she was not one to shy away from the spotlight. Spending her childhood in Poughkeepsie NY, England and finally Boulder CO, she was a talented performer and class clown. She graduated from the University of Arizona (Bear Down!) with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, following that up with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering specializing in Electromagnetics from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. A brilliant engineer and gifted writer D'Arlyn excelled in her male dominated industry. Throughout her career she held various management and director roles in IT project management and engineering, as well as teaching at Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs as an Associate Professor of Engineering.
D'Arlyn is survived by her father, Harlyn Oppeboen, her brother, Mark Oppeboen, her four children, Larissa Fromme, Kelsey Conkling, Grant Reed and Jen Grossman and her three grandchildren, Caroline Conkling, Clay Conkling and Jack Grossman. An avid fan of the Denver Broncos, she never missed a game and was known to have offered her notes on the game to her rookie Broncos player neighbors. A skilled seamstress and dirt bike daredevil, D'arlyn was many things; tin foil peanut wrapper, world traveler, the first on stage at karaoke, ridiculous hat lover, pilot, cookie jar in her carry on packer - most of all she was energy and joy, laughter and silliness. There is no doubt that heaven got a little louder upon her arrival and she will be greatly missed.
