Derek Jon Hageman

February 23, 1973 ~ March 26, 2023 (age 50) 50 Years Old

Derek Jon Hageman of Denver passed away at age 50 on Sunday, March 26, 2023, after a 15-month journey bravely fighting pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by love from his close family. He was born February 23,1973, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Derek was an exceptionally caring person who always saw the best in others. He was intellectually curious, patient, compassionate, and loving. He developed and maintained life-long relationships with people who were blessed to know him. Derek spent his whole career working in finance. From business to international politics, it would be difficult to find a more well-read person. While the stock market was his true passion, he started his career by giving back during his two years of volunteering for the Peace Corps in Senegal, where he managed a micro credit banking program for small women-owned businesses. In his last professional role, he managed portfolios and provided financial education, which was his way of giving back yet again.

Sports were always an important part of Derek's life. From a young age, it was something he passionately shared with many, most notably, his father. Running was what he liked the most, and it was part of who he was. He was an Ironman Triathlon finisher who always pushed himself to excel in everything he did in life. Loving the outdoors and being an avid traveler, Derek was always eager to board a plane for another adventure. Derek is survived by his loving wife, Sonia, parents Gene and Donna, sister Jill, brother-in-law, Todd, nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in Denver to honor Derek. Location and date in June to be determined. Donations in Derek's memory may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
